135.00

In this course, students will learn about the properties of domestic hardwoods and how they need to be prepared before applying finish. We will discuss the differences between dyes and stains, the characteristics of different solvents, and methods of topcoat application by hand. Students will learn how finished wood changes and moves over time and they will be able to practice certain operations that are a staple of Sterling and Six’ work, like charring, bleaching, oxidizing, and brushing wood.

Students will leave with 3 coasters produced by Sterling and Six showcasing the finishing techniques they learned, a suggested reading list, and 25% off an item to our online store.

Classes take place at 7 PM on every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month and are limited to three students. Run time: 2.5 hours.
